The Laryngoscope
Training Device
Project Team Leader

The Laryngoscope Training Device aims to supplement accurate training for medical professionals to minimize patient soft tissue injuries by providing feedback from the quality of pressure exerted. The device delivers numerical feedback and is modulated by a visual cue system consisting of L.E.D lights that respond proportionally to the pressure exerted within the buccal region.

Principles of intubation mechanics were applied to the process of medical device development to support the design. As the team leader, it was vital to troubleshoot challenges associated with the design process to manage prioritization of deliverables and evaluation of requirements. The manufacturing process used SolidWorks and ANSYS to obtain metrics for verification and validation testing of the mechanical properties. Whereas, enhancing the software associated components using C++ was crucial to ensure user satisfaction with real-time feedback.
